DE WAY OF THE STICK

Jodo, the way of the stick is not (yet ) as popular as other martial arts. Developed by Muso Gonnosuke Katsuyoshi after being defeated by Miyamoto Musashi, perhaps the most (in)famous swordsman of Japan, this martial art is especially developed to defend against sword techniques. Based on a round stick that is longer than a sword, but short enough to hold between two hands, both ends of the stick is used for a high-speed strike, and/or thrust. These techniques have been very effective in the past and are still used today by the Japanese police.
